The event is weather-dependent. We track weather reports and the dates chosen are non-monsoon or rainy periods. Despite this, there is a chance of passing clouds affecting the same. In case of only severe weather warning alerts issued by the Meteorological department, we cancel or change the event.

We will not be liable for any sudden acts of God which do not allow good seeing as per your expectations.

Sun Observation

Experience the mysteries of our nearest star, the sun, through a series of captivating sessions with from Dr. Dipankar Bannerjee of ARIES, who will share insights from the Aditya Mission project team.You’ll discover techniques to observe the sun safely without direct eye contact, learn how to use it for navigation and timekeeping, and explore the concepts behind historic sun instruments like the Jantar Mantar and sundials. Participants will even have the chance to build their own sundials. Using special goggles and telescopes, you’ll observe the sun’s spots, surface, and flares firsthand.


Dive into the exciting world of rocketry, where you’ll go from basic principles to advanced applications. Create your own rocket using easily accessible materials, engage in fun competitions to learn about parabolic motion, and experiment with water and air propulsion to understand the power of fuel. The event will kick off with the launch of a water-based rocket projectile, marking the start of our stellar journey.

Optics and Telescopes

Explore the wonders of light and its applications in various optical instruments. Learn about the properties of light, how it travels, interacts with different materials, and reveals its constituent colors. Hands-on demonstrations will show you how telescopes are constructed, making this a fascinating experience for both children and adults alike.

Cosmos Theatre

Immerse yourself in the universe with 3D shows and virtual reality experiences. Enjoy educational and entertaining shows with 3D glasses, participate in quizzes with exciting prizes, and listen to expert guest speakers. Dr. Dipankar Bannerjee will discuss the Aditya Mission with a live projection of the sun through a telescope, while Dr. Aakash Sinha will share insights on the Chandrayaan missions and rover capabilities.

Activity Zone

Engage in a variety of interactive and educational activities in our open-area zone. Measure height, use contour maps, play solar system games, and use a latitude finder for self-discovery. Capture memorable moments with a Moon backdrop featuring an astronaut and a Mars backdrop with a rover race competition.

Astrophotography Zone

Learn the art of capturing the night sky from expert astrophotographers. Attend sessions where professionals share their tips and tricks, participate in hands-on photography demonstrations, and join evening theory classes to enhance your astrophotography skills. This zone promises to be both informative and inspiring for photography enthusiasts.

Merchandise Zone

Pick up your favorite souvenirs and memorabilia to remember the event. Our merchandise tent offers exclusive Starscapes merch, keychains, hats, astro-kits, rocket building kits, and more. You’ll also find DIY sundial kits and solar system models for hands-on fun.

Reception and Utility Zone

Find all the support and amenities you need for a comfortable stay at our dedicated reception and utility zone. Information desks will assist with queries, stay issues, food, and additional learning. The utility area provides water, tissues, medical supplies, emergency chocolates, food, and toiletries to ensure your needs are met.

Dining Zone

Enjoy a variety of delicious pre-cooked meals in a communal dining setting.

Breakfasts include parantha, curd, pickle, and poha or upma. Lunch features a thali of mixed vegetable curry, yellow dal, jeera rice, chapati, salad, and gulab jamun. Evening snacks offer kathi rolls, sandwiches, and readymade tea, while dinner serves a thali of kadhai paneer, dal makhani, mattar rice, chapati, salad, and halwa. Throughout the camp, parallel activities ensure everyone finds something enjoyable and enriching to do.

Travel to Nakshatra Sabha

Mussoorie is a popular hill station located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. You can reach Mussoorie by various means of transportation:

By Air

The nearest airport to Mussoorie is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is approximately 60 kilometers away. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Mussoorie.

By Train

The nearest railway station to Mussoorie is the Dehradun Railway Station, which is well-connected to major cities in India. From the railway station, you can take a taxi or bus to Mussoorie.

By Road

Mussoorie is well-connected by road to major cities in Uttarakhand and nearby states. You can drive to Mussoorie or take a bus from nearby cities like Dehradun, Delhi, or Haridwar.

Reach the George Everest Museum: Once you reach Mussoorie, you can proceed to the George Everest Museum, which is located about 6 kilometers from the main town center. Here’s how to get there:

By Taxi or Private Vehicle

You can hire a taxi or drive your own vehicle to reach the museum. The museum is located on the way to Cloud's End, a popular tourist spot in Mussoorie. You can ask the driver to take you to the George Everest Museum.

By Walking or Hiking

If you enjoy walking or hiking, you can trek to the museum from the main town center of Mussoorie. The trek offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Things to observe in Night Sky


Stars are the most abundant objects in the night sky. They appear as points of light and come in various colors, sizes, and brightness levels. Some well-known stars include Sirius, Polaris, and Vega.


Several planets in our solar system are visible with the naked eye. The five classical visible planets are Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. They move relative to the background stars and have distinctive appearances.

The Moon

Earth’s natural satellite, the Moon, is a prominent object in the night sky. It goes through phases, including full moon, crescent, and gibbous phases, over the course of a month.


Although not visible as individual objects with the naked eye, our Milky Way galaxy is a prominent feature in the night sky. In dark, rural areas, you can see the faint band of the Milky Way arching across the sky.


Nebulae are clouds of gas and dust in space. Some, like the Orion Nebula, can be seen with the naked eye as faint, fuzzy patches. Telescopes reveal more details and colors.

Star Clusters

Star clusters are groups of stars that are gravitationally bound. Open clusters, like the Pleiades, are loose associations of stars, while globular clusters are tight-knit groups found around the galactic center.

Asteroids and Comets

Occasionally, comets and asteroids become visible in the night sky, especially when they pass close to Earth. Comets often have bright tails, while asteroids appear as moving points of light.

Meteor Showers

Meteor showers occur when Earth passes through the debris left by comets. During these events, you can see numerous meteors or “shooting stars” streaking across the sky.


Artificial satellites, including the International Space Station (ISS), are visible as moving points of light as they pass overhead. They often move steadily across the sky in a straight line.


Constellations are patterns of stars that form recogniza- ble shapes or figures in the sky. Examples include Orion, Ursa Major (the Big Dipper), and Cassiopeia.

Double Stars

Some stars appear close to each other in the sky and can be resolved as distinct pairs through telescopes. These are known as double stars or binary stars.

Alcohol Policy

Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited within the premises of Nakshatra Sabha (George Everest Peak, Mussoorie). This policy is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all campers, as alcohol consumption can increase the risk of accidents and disruptive behavior. Campers found violating this policy may be subject to penalties or expulsion from the campsite.

Substance-Free Policy

The use, possession, or distribution of alcohol, drugs, or any other intoxicating substances is strictly prohibited within the premises of  Nakshatra Sabha (George Everest Peak, Mussoorie). This policy is in place to ensure the safety, health, and enjoyment of all campers. Violation of this policy may result in immediate expulsion from the campsite.
